This Lemon Garlic Chicken with Creamy Bowtie Pasta is a deliciously creamy and zesty dish. Tender chicken, rich garlic cream sauce, and perfectly cooked bowtie pasta make this a comforting meal thatโ€™s easy enough for weeknights yet elegant enough for entertaining.

Ingredients

Scale

For the chicken:

  • 2 large chicken breasts, sliced into thin cutlets
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tsp lemon zest

For the pasta:

  • 12 oz (340 g) bowtie pasta (farfalle)
  • 4 cups (960 ml) water or chicken broth
  • 1/2 tsp salt

For the creamy sauce:

  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup (240 ml) heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup (50 g) grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 tsp dried Italian seasoning
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

For garnish:

  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
  • Lemon wedges (optional)

Instructions

1. Cook the pasta

  1. Bring water or chicken broth to a boil in a large pot. Add the bowtie pasta and salt.
  2. Cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside, reserving 1/2 cup pasta water.

2. Cook the chicken

  1. Season the chicken cutlets with garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  2. Heat olive oil and butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  3. Add the chicken and sear for 3โ€“4 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
  4. Drizzle lemon juice and sprinkle lemon zest over the chicken while cooking.
  5. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.

3. Make the creamy sauce

  1. In the same skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.
  2. Add minced garlic and sautรฉ for 1โ€“2 minutes, until fragrant.
  3. Stir in the heavy cream, Parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, and red pepper flakes (if using).
  4. Add the lemon juice and simmer for 3โ€“4 minutes, stirring until the sauce thickens.
  5. Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper to taste.

4. Combine everything

  1. Add the cooked bowtie pasta to the creamy sauce, tossing to coat. Use reserved pasta water to adjust the sauce consistency, if needed.
  2. Slice the cooked chicken and place it on top of the pasta.

5. Serve

  1. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve with lemon wedges for an extra burst of flavor.
  2. Serve warm with crusty bread or a side salad for a complete meal.

Notes

  • Variations: Add sautรฉed spinach, asparagus, or sun-dried tomatoes to the sauce for extra flavor and nutrients.
  • Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat gently on the stovetop with a splash of cream or broth to loosen the sauce.
  • Shortcuts: Use pre-cooked chicken or rotisserie chicken for a quicker version of this dish.
