These air fryer calzones are crispy on the outside, soft and cheesy on the inside, and ready in just minutes! Made with store-bought or homemade pizza dough, they’re a fun and easy twist on classic pizza. Perfect for a quick lunch, dinner, or snack!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
  • ½ cup pizza sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup ricotta cheese
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • ½ teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • ½ cup sliced pepperoni or other toppings (mushrooms, sausage, bell peppers, etc.)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (for brushing)
  • 1 egg (for egg wash, optional)
  • ¼ cup all-purpose flour (for rolling)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Air Fryer: Set your air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Prepare the Dough: Lightly flour a clean surface and roll out the pizza dough into 6-inch circles (about ¼ inch thick).
  3. Add Fillings: Spread a tablespoon of pizza sauce on one half of each dough circle. Top with mozzarella, ricotta, Parmesan, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, and your choice of toppings.
  4. Seal the Calzones: Fold the dough over the filling to create a half-moon shape. Press the edges together and crimp with a fork to seal.
  5. Brush with Egg Wash: Whisk the egg and brush it over the tops of the calzones for a golden, crispy crust. (Alternatively, brush with olive oil.)
  6. Air Fry the Calzones: Place them in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Cook for 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden brown and crispy.
  7. Cool & Serve: Let the calzones cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy with extra pizza sauce for dipping!
