Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups buttermilk
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp baking soda
  • 2/3 cup granulated sugar (for cinnamon mixture)
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon (for cinnamon mixture)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9×5 inch loaf pans.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and 2 cups sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time.
  3. Stir in the buttermilk, flour, and baking soda until just combined.
  4. In a small bowl, mix together 2/3 cup sugar and cinnamon.
  5. Pour 1/4 of the batter into each pan, then sprinkle each with 1/4 of the cinnamon-sugar mixture. Repeat layers, ending with cinnamon-sugar on top.
  6. Use a knife to gently swirl the cinnamon-sugar through the batter in each pan.
  7. Bake for 45–50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  8. Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then remove to a wire rack to cool completely.
