These Baked Chocolate Chip Donuts are soft, fluffy, and packed with chocolate chips. A quick and easy treat that’s perfect for breakfast, brunch, or dessert, they’re baked—not fried—for a slightly lighter indulgence.

Ingredients

Scale

For the donuts:

  • 1 1/2 cups (190 g) all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup (100 g) granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) whole milk
  • 1/4 cup (60 g) unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup (90 g) mini chocolate chips

For the glaze (optional):

  • 1 cup (120 g) powdered sugar
  • 23 tablespoons milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Mini chocolate chips for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Step 1: Preheat the oven

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a donut pan with nonstick spray or butter.

Step 2: Mix the dry ingredients

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.

Step 3: Mix the wet ingredients

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the milk, melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract.

Step 4: Combine the mixtures

  1. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined (do not overmix). Gently fold in the mini chocolate chips.

Step 5: Fill the donut pan

  1. Spoon or pipe the batter into the prepared donut pan, filling each cavity about 2/3 full.

Step 6: Bake the donuts

  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the tops spring back when lightly touched, and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  2. Allow the donuts to cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Step 7: Prepare the glaze (optional)

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth. Adjust the consistency by adding more milk (for a thinner glaze) or more powdered sugar (for a thicker glaze).

Step 8: Glaze and garnish

  1. Dip the cooled donuts into the glaze, allowing any excess to drip off. Sprinkle with additional mini chocolate chips if desired. Let the glaze set for 10-15 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Storage: Store donuts in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days or in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
  • Freezing: Freeze unglazed donuts in a freezer-safe bag for up to 3 months. Thaw at room temperature and glaze before serving.
  • Substitutions: Use almond milk or oat milk for a dairy-free version. Replace mini chocolate chips with dark chocolate chunks for a richer flavor.
