Ingredients

Scale

  • 12 mozzarella string cheese sticks
  • 12 slices of deli ham (thinly sliced)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Cooking spray or olive oil mist

Instructions

  1. Prepare the cheese sticks: Unwrap the mozzarella sticks and wrap each one tightly with a slice of ham. Set them aside.
  2. Set up a breading station: Place flour in one shallow bowl, beaten eggs in another, and mix panko breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning in a third bowl.
  3. Coat the ham-wrapped sticks: Roll each ham-wrapped mozzarella stick in the flour, then dip it in the egg, and finally coat it evenly with the breadcrumb mixture. Press gently to ensure the coating sticks well.
  4. Chill the sticks: Place the coated sticks on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and freeze them for at least 30 minutes. This step helps prevent the cheese from melting out during baking.
  5. Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  6. Bake the sticks: Lightly spray the coated sticks with cooking spray or mist them with olive oil. Bake for 10–12 minutes, turning them halfway through, until they are golden and crispy.
  7. Serve warm: Remove from the oven and let them cool slightly before serving. Pair with marinara sauce or your favorite dip.

Notes

  • For extra crunch, use panko breadcrumbs.
  • You can substitute deli turkey or prosciutto for the ham if preferred.
  • Ensure the sticks are frozen before baking to prevent the cheese from oozing out.
