Bang Bang Halibut is a delightful twist on the classic Bang Bang Shrimp, featuring crispy halibut bites coated in a sweet and spicy sauce. This dish combines the firm texture of halibut with the bold flavors of the bang bang sauce, making it a standout seafood recipe.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Halibut:

  • 1 pound halibut fillets, cut into 1-inch wide by 1/2-inch thick strips
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • 1 1/2 cups panko breadcrumbs
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup coconut oil (or preferred cooking oil)

For the Bang Bang Sauce:

  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons sweet chili sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Sriracha sauce

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Bang Bang Sauce:

    • In a bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, honey, sweet chili sauce, and Sriracha sauce until smooth. Refrigerate until ready to use.
  2. Bread the Halibut:

    • In a shallow dish, combine chopped parsley with panko breadcrumbs.
    • In another bowl, whisk the eggs.
    • Dip each halibut strip into the egg mixture, then coat with the panko mixture, pressing gently to adhere.
  3. Cook the Halibut:

    • Heat coconut oil in a skillet over medium heat.
    • Place breaded halibut pieces in the skillet, cooking for 4-5 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through.
    • Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
  4. Serve:

    • Arrange cooked halibut on a serving platter.
    • Drizzle with prepared bang bang sauce or serve the sauce on the side for dipping.

Notes

  • For a healthier option, bake the breaded halibut in a preheated oven at 400°F (200°C) for 15-20 minutes, or until golden and cooked through.

  • Adjust the spiciness of the bang bang sauce by modifying the amount of Sriracha to taste.
