These rich, fudgy homemade brownies have a shiny, crackly top and an irresistibly gooey center. Made with real cocoa powder and chunks of melted chocolate, they’re the ultimate indulgence for any chocolate lover. Perfect for dessert, parties, or just because!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 ¼ cups granulated sugar
  • ¾ cup brown sugar (light or dark)
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips or chunks
  • ½ teaspoon espresso powder (optional, enhances chocolate flavor)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven:

    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
    • Grease or line a 9×13-inch baking dish with parchment paper for easy removal.
  2. Mix Wet Ingredients:

    • In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth and glossy.
    • Add the eggs, one at a time, whisking well after each addition.
    • Stir in the vanilla extract (and espresso powder, if using).
  3. Add Dry Ingredients:

    • Sift together the flour, cocoa powder, and salt in a separate bowl.
    • Gently fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined—do not overmix.
  4. Add Chocolate Chips:

    • Fold in the chocolate chips or chunks for extra gooeyness.
  5. Bake:

    • Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
    • Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs (not completely clean).
  6. Cool and Serve:

    • Allow brownies to cool completely in the pan before slicing for clean edges.
    • Cut into squares and serve as is, or with a scoop of ice cream for extra indulgence!

Notes

  • For cakier brownies, bake for an extra 5 minutes or use 1 fewer egg.
  • Add nuts like walnuts or pecans for extra crunch.
  • Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 4 days or freeze for up to 2 months.
