Classic Rice Krispie Treats made extra gooey and buttery with the perfect ratio of marshmallows to cereal. A nostalgic, no-bake treat everyone loves!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
  • 1 (10-ounce) bag mini marshmallows (about 6 cups), plus 2 cups extra for extra gooeyness
  • 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)

Instructions

  1. Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking pan with butter or nonstick spray.
  2. In a large pot over low heat, melt the butter. Stir occasionally until it turns a light golden brown for extra flavor, if desired.
  3. Add in the marshmallows and salt. Stir until completely melted and smooth. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla, if using.
  4. Quickly fold in the Rice Krispies cereal and extra marshmallows until evenly coated.
  5. Transfer mixture to the prepared pan. Lightly press into an even layer with a buttered spatula or wax paper. Do not press too firmly for soft, chewy treats.
  6. Let cool for about 30 minutes, then cut into squares and enjoy!

Notes

  • Use fresh marshmallows for the best texture.
  • Don’t pack the mixture too tightly or the treats will be hard.
  • Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
