Better-Than-Takeout Sticky Chicken and Broccoli is a quick and delicious stir-fry featuring tender chicken in a sweet and savory sticky sauce with crisp broccoli — all made in one pan and ready in under 30 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 3 cups broccoli florets
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)
  • Cooked white rice, for serving

Instructions

  1. Toss chicken pieces with cornstarch until coated.
  2. Heat 1 tablespoon oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add chicken and cook until browned and cooked through, about 6–8 minutes. Remove and set aside.
  3. Add remaining tablespoon of oil to the skillet. Add broccoli and cook for 2–3 minutes until just tender. Add garlic and sauté for another 30 seconds.
  4. In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, hoisin sauce, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes.
  5. Return chicken to the pan with broccoli, pour in the sauce, and stir to coat.
  6. Simmer for 3–5 minutes until the sauce thickens and coats the chicken and broccoli.
  7. Serve hot over rice, garnished with sesame seeds if desired.

Notes

  • Use fresh or frozen broccoli depending on availability.
  • Substitute maple syrup or brown sugar for honey if needed.
  • Double the sauce for an extra sticky glaze.
