This Blackstone Smashburger is juicy, crispy, and packed with flavor. The high heat of the griddle creates an irresistible crust, while the simple seasoning lets the beef shine. Topped with melted cheese and stacked on a toasted bun, it’s the ultimate burger experience!

Ingredients

Scale

For the Burgers:

  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20 for the best juiciness)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce (optional, for extra depth)
  • 1 tablespoon butter (for toasting buns)
  • 4 burger buns

For the Toppings:

  • 4 slices American cheese (or cheddar)
  • ½ cup sliced pickles
  • ¼ cup thinly sliced red onion
  • Lettuce and tomato (optional)
  • Burger sauce (see below)

For the Burger Sauce:

  • ¼ cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup
  • 1 teaspoon yellow mustard
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon pickle juice (or vinegar)

Instructions

1. Preheat the Blackstone Griddle

  • Heat your Blackstone griddle to high heat (450-500°F) for at least 5 minutes.
  • Lightly oil the surface or use beef tallow for extra flavor.

2. Prepare the Beef

  1. Divide ground beef into 4 equal balls (about ¼ lb each).
  2. Season each ball with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  3. Keep them loosely packed—this helps create the signature crispy crust.

3. Smash the Burgers

  1. Place a beef ball onto the hot griddle.
  2. Using a burger press or heavy spatula, smash it down immediately until it’s about ¼ inch thick.
  3. Let cook without touching for 2-3 minutes until a crispy crust forms.

4. Flip & Add Cheese

  1. Using a metal spatula, scrape under the burger and flip it quickly.
  2. Immediately place a slice of cheese on top and cook for another 1-2 minutes.

5. Toast the Buns

  1. Spread butter on the burger buns and toast on the griddle for 30-60 seconds until golden.

6. Assemble & Serve

  1. Spread burger sauce on the bottom bun.
  2. Add pickles, onions, lettuce, and tomato if desired.
  3. Stack the cheesy smashburger on top and cap with the top bun.
  4. Serve hot with fries or chips!

Notes

  • Want a double smash? Use 2 patties per burger for extra juiciness!
  • Prefer extra crispy edges? Smash the burgers even thinner.
  • Make it spicy! Add hot sauce to the burger sauce or use pepper jack cheese.
