This Blueberry Butter is a smooth, fruity spread made with fresh or frozen blueberries, butter, and a hint of honey or sugar. It’s quick to make, full of natural sweetness, and adds a bright pop of flavor to breakfast or brunch. Perfect for slathering on warm toast, waffles, or scones!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

  • 1/2 cup fresh or frozen blueberries

  • 23 tablespoons honey or powdered sugar (to taste)

  • 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice

  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Cook the blueberries:

    • In a small saucepan over medium heat, cook blueberries and lemon juice for 3–5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the berries burst and the mixture thickens slightly.

    • Remove from heat and let cool completely.

  2. Make the butter:

    • In a bowl or food processor, blend the softened butter with honey (or sugar) and salt until smooth and creamy.

  3. Combine:

    • Add the cooled blueberry mixture to the butter and mix until fully combined. You can leave it slightly chunky or blend it smooth.

  4. Serve or store:

    • Transfer to a jar or small container. Serve immediately or refrigerate for up to 1 week. For best flavor, bring to room temperature before spreading.

Notes

  • Use salted butter and skip the added salt if that’s what you have on hand.

  • Add a bit of cinnamon or vanilla extract for an extra twist.

  • Great as a gift in little jars—just label and tie with twine!
