Ingredients

  • 1 cup (240 ml) freshly brewed coffee
  • 2 tbsp (15 g) cocoa powder or 1 oz (30 g) melted dark chocolate
  • 2 tbsp (30 ml) peppermint schnapps (or adjust to taste)
  • 1 tbsp (15 ml) coffee liqueur (e.g., Kahlúa, optional)
  • 2 tbsp (30 ml) heavy cream or milk (optional, for creaminess)
  • 1–2 tsp (5–10 g) granulated sugar or sweetener (optional)

For garnish:

  • Whipped cream
  • Crushed candy canes or peppermint candies
  • Chocolate shavings or cocoa powder

Instructions

1. Prepare the mocha base:

  • In a mug, whisk the cocoa powder (or melted chocolate) with a splash of the hot coffee until smooth. Add the remaining coffee and stir to combine.

2. Add the booze:

  • Stir in the peppermint schnapps and coffee liqueur, if using. Add heavy cream or milk for extra richness, and sweeten to taste.
