Bowtie Pasta Ziti is a comforting baked pasta dish that combines bowtie (farfalle) noodles with a savory tomato meat sauce and layers of creamy ricotta and melted mozzarella—an easy, family-friendly twist on classic ziti.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 oz bowtie (farfalle) pasta
  • 1 lb ground beef or Italian sausage
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 jar (24 oz) marinara or pasta sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh basil or parsley, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Cook bowtie pasta according to package directions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef and onion until browned. Add garlic and cook for 1 more minute. Drain excess fat.
  4. Stir in marinara sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  5. In a large bowl, combine cooked pasta, meat sauce, ricotta cheese, and 1 cup of mozzarella. Stir gently to combine.
  6. Transfer mixture to prepared baking dish. Top with remaining 1 cup of mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
  7. Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until cheese is melted and bubbly.
  8. Let rest 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with chopped basil or parsley if desired.
