For the Brownies
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 ¼ cups granulated sugar
  • ¾ cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 3 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ cup chocolate chips (optional, for extra fudginess)
For the Cream Cheese Frosting

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • ½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.
  3. Add the eggs and vanilla extract, whisking until fully incorporated.
  4. In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder.
  5. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined. Fold in the chocolate chips, if using.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and spread evenly.
  7. Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  8. Let the brownies cool completely before frosting.
Make the Cream Cheese Frosting
  1. In a mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese and butter together until smooth and creamy.
  2. Add the powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and salt, then beat until light and fluffy.
  3. Spread the frosting evenly over the cooled brownies.
