Bunny Buns are soft, fluffy, slightly sweet bread rolls shaped like adorable bunnies—perfect for Easter or springtime celebrations.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup warm milk (110°F)
  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • Raisins or currants for eyes
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, dissolve yeast in warm milk with a pinch of sugar. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until frothy.
  2. Add the remaining sugar, melted butter, salt, and eggs. Mix well.
  3. Gradually add flour, mixing until a soft dough forms. Knead for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. Punch down the dough and divide into equal portions.
  6. Shape each portion into a ball for the bunny body and a smaller ball for the tail. Use small dough strips to form ears.
  7. Assemble the bunny shape on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Add raisins or currants for eyes.
  8. Cover and let rise for another 20–30 minutes.
  9. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Brush each bunny with egg wash.
  10. Bake for 12–15 minutes or until golden brown. Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • You can add a bit of vanilla extract or cinnamon to the dough for extra flavor.
  • These buns freeze well; store in an airtight container and reheat before serving.
