This classic Caesar Salad features crisp romaine lettuce, crunchy croutons, a creamy homemade Caesar dressing, and freshly grated Parmesan — perfect as a side or light main dish.

Ingredients

  • 1 large head romaine lettuce, chopped
  • 1 cup croutons
  • 1/3 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 2 tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 cup freshly grated Parmesan (for dressing)
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, minced garlic, lemon juice, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, 1/4 cup grated Parmesan, olive oil, salt, and pepper until smooth and creamy.
  2. Place chopped romaine in a large salad bowl.
  3. Add croutons and drizzle with the dressing. Toss well to coat evenly.
  4. Sprinkle with remaining freshly grated Parmesan before serving.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add anchovy paste to the dressing if desired.
  • Serve immediately to keep the lettuce crisp.
  • Top with grilled chicken or shrimp for a complete meal.
