Ingredients

Scale

For the apple filling:

  • 4 medium apples, peeled, cored, and sliced thin

  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar

  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

For the crumble topping:

  • 1/2 cup rolled oats

  • 1/3 cup all-purpose flour

  • 1/4 cup brown sugar

  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

  • 1/4 cup cold unsalted butter, diced

  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  • Preheat your grill or campfire to medium heat.

  • In a large bowl, toss sliced apples with brown sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice.

  • In another bowl, mix oats, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Add diced butter and mix until crumbly.

  • Tear off 4 large sheets of heavy-duty aluminum foil. Divide the apple mixture evenly among the packets.

  • Sprinkle the crumble topping over the apples.

  • Fold the foil to seal the packets tightly.

  • Place the packets over the campfire or grill and cook for 15–20 minutes, turning halfway through.

  • Carefully open packets (watch for steam) and serve warm. Optional: top with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Notes

  • Use firm apples like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp for best results.

  • These can also be baked in a 375°F oven for about 20 minutes.

  • Double-wrap the foil for extra protection on open flames.
