These Campfire Apple Crisp Foil Packets are a fun and easy way to enjoy a classic dessert outdoors. Sweet apples are topped with a buttery oat crumble and cooked over the campfire until warm and bubbly. Great for camping, grilling, or even baking at home!
For the apple filling:
4 medium apples, peeled, cored, and sliced thin
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 tablespoon lemon juice
For the crumble topping:
1/2 cup rolled oats
1/3 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 cup cold unsalted butter, diced
Pinch of salt
Preheat your grill or campfire to medium heat.
In a large bowl, toss sliced apples with brown sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice.
In another bowl, mix oats, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Add diced butter and mix until crumbly.
Tear off 4 large sheets of heavy-duty aluminum foil. Divide the apple mixture evenly among the packets.
Sprinkle the crumble topping over the apples.
Fold the foil to seal the packets tightly.
Place the packets over the campfire or grill and cook for 15–20 minutes, turning halfway through.
Carefully open packets (watch for steam) and serve warm. Optional: top with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
Use firm apples like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp for best results.
These can also be baked in a 375°F oven for about 20 minutes.
Double-wrap the foil for extra protection on open flames.
