Cardamom Plum Sorbet is a refreshing and aromatic frozen dessert made with ripe plums, a touch of sugar, and a hint of warm cardamom spice. It’s dairy-free, vibrant, and perfect for a light summer treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 lbs ripe plums, pitted and chopped
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1/2 tsp ground cardamom
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, combine plums, sugar, water, cardamom, and salt. Bring to a simmer over medium heat.
  2. Cook for 10–15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until plums are soft and sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat and let cool.
  3. Transfer mixture to a blender and purée until smooth. Stir in lemon juice.
  4. Strain through a fine mesh sieve for a smoother texture (optional).
  5. Chill the mixture in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours or until completely cold.
  6. Churn in an ice cream maker according to manufacturer’s instructions.
  7. Transfer to an airtight container and freeze for at least 4 hours before serving.

Notes

  • Adjust the amount of cardamom to taste; a little goes a long way.
  • No ice cream maker? Freeze the purée in a shallow dish and stir every 30 minutes until smooth.
  • Use red or black plums for best color and flavor.
