Carne Asada Tacos are loaded with juicy, marinated grilled steak and topped with fresh garnishes. These bold and flavorful tacos are perfect for taco night or weekend cookouts.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lbs flank or skirt steak
  • 1/4 cup orange juice
  • 1/4 cup lime juice
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 8 small corn tortillas
  • 1/2 cup chopped white onion
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
  • 1 avocado, sliced
  • Lime wedges for serving

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, whisk together orange juice, lime juice, olive oil, garlic, cumin, chili powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  2. Place steak in a resealable bag or shallow dish and pour marinade over it. Marinate in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour, preferably overnight.
  3. Preheat grill or grill pan over high heat. Remove steak from marinade and grill for 4–5 minutes per side for medium-rare, or to desired doneness.
  4. Let steak rest for 5 minutes, then slice thinly against the grain.
  5. Warm tortillas on the grill or in a skillet.
  6. Assemble tacos with sliced carne asada, chopped onion, cilantro, avocado, and a squeeze of lime juice.
  7. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Flank or skirt steak works best for juicy, flavorful carne asada.
  • Marinate overnight for the deepest flavor.
  • Top with your favorite salsa or hot sauce for an extra kick.
