Ingredients
Scale
1 1/2 lbs flank or skirt steak
1/4 cup orange juice
1/4 cup lime juice
2 tablespoons olive oil
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon chili powder
1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
Salt and pepper to taste
8 small corn tortillas
1/2 cup chopped white onion
1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
1 avocado, sliced
Lime wedges for serving
Instructions
In a bowl, whisk together orange juice, lime juice, olive oil, garlic, cumin, chili powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
Place steak in a resealable bag or shallow dish and pour marinade over it. Marinate in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour, preferably overnight.
Preheat grill or grill pan over high heat. Remove steak from marinade and grill for 4–5 minutes per side for medium-rare, or to desired doneness.
Let steak rest for 5 minutes, then slice thinly against the grain.
Warm tortillas on the grill or in a skillet.
Assemble tacos with sliced carne asada, chopped onion, cilantro, avocado, and a squeeze of lime juice.
Serve immediately.
Notes
Flank or skirt steak works best for juicy, flavorful carne asada.
Marinate overnight for the deepest flavor.
Top with your favorite salsa or hot sauce for an extra kick.
