Chang’s Chicken Lettuce Wraps are a savory, Asian-inspired appetizer featuring ground chicken stir-fried with garlic, ginger, and hoisin sauce, served in crisp lettuce cups for a fresh and flavorful bite.

  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 pound ground chicken
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1/4 cup hoisin sauce
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 (8 oz) can water chestnuts, drained and chopped
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 head butter or Bibb lettuce, leaves separated

Instructions

  1. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Add ground chicken and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned and cooked through, about 5-6 minutes.
  3. Stir in onion, garlic, and ginger. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until fragrant and onion is translucent.
  4. Add hoisin sauce, soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and chopped water chestnuts. Stir to combine and cook for 2-3 more minutes.
  5. Stir in sliced green onions and season with salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Remove from heat and spoon the chicken mixture into individual lettuce leaves.
  7. Serve warm, garnished with extra green onions if desired.

  • Use ground turkey or tofu for a lighter or vegetarian option.
  • Serve with a side of chili garlic sauce for added heat.
