Ingredients

Scale

For the Filling:

  • 1 lb (450 g) ground beef
  • 1/2 cup (75 g) diced onion
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
  • 1 cup (120 g) shredded cheddar cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste

For the Egg Rolls:

  • 12–15 egg roll wrappers
  • Water for sealing
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Optional Toppings for Serving:

  • Pickles, diced
  • Lettuce, shredded
  • Tomato, diced

For Dipping:

  • Ketchup
  • Mustard
  • Special sauce (mix mayo, ketchup, and pickle relish)

Instructions

1. Make the Filling:

  1. Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it into small crumbles. Drain any excess grease.
  2. Add the diced onion to the skillet and cook until softened, about 2–3 minutes.
  3. Stir in garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, ketchup, mustard, salt, and pepper. Cook for 1–2 minutes to combine. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  4. Once cooled, stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until evenly mixed.

2. Assemble the Egg Rolls:

  1. Lay an egg roll wrapper on a flat surface with one corner pointing toward you (diamond shape). Spoon about 2 tablespoons of the cheeseburger mixture onto the center of the wrapper.
  2. Fold the bottom corner over the filling, then fold in the two sides tightly. Roll up the wrapper, sealing the top corner with a dab of water. Repeat with the remaining wrappers and filling.

3. Fry the Egg Rolls:

  1. Heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil in a deep skillet or pot to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Fry the egg rolls in batches for 2–3 minutes per side, or until golden brown and crispy. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

4. Serve:

  1. Serve the egg rolls warm with dipping sauces and optional toppings.

Notes

  • For a healthier version, brush the egg rolls with oil and bake in a 400°F (200°C) oven for 15–20 minutes, flipping halfway through, or cook them in an air fryer.
  • Customize by adding diced pickles or crumbled bacon to the filling.
  • Leftovers can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days and reheated in the oven or air fryer.
