Ingredients

Scale
  • For the Burritos:
    • 1 lb ground beef
    • 1 small onion, finely chopped
    • 1 packet taco seasoning (or homemade seasoning)
    • 1/4 cup water
    • 2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar or Mexican blend)
    • 4 large flour tortillas
  • For the Fries:
    • 1 lb frozen French fries (or homemade)
    • Salt to taste
  • Toppings (Optional):
    • Sour cream
    • Salsa
    • Guacamole
    • Shredded lettuce
    • Diced tomatoes
    • Jalapeño slices

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Fries:
    • Cook the French fries according to package instructions or bake/air-fry homemade fries until golden and crispy. Set aside and keep warm.
  2. Cook the Beef:
    • In a large skillet, cook the ground beef and chopped onion over medium heat until the beef is browned and the onion is softened. Drain excess grease.
    • Add the taco seasoning and water, stirring to combine. Simmer for 2–3 minutes, or until the mixture thickens.
  3. Assemble the Burritos:
    • Warm the tortillas in the microwave or on a skillet to make them pliable.
    • Place a layer of cooked beef in the center of each tortilla. Top with shredded cheese and a handful of crispy fries.
    • Add your favorite toppings, like sour cream, salsa, or guacamole.
  4. Roll the Burritos:
    • Fold in the sides of the tortilla, then roll it tightly from the bottom to create a burrito.
  5. Melt the Cheese (Optional):
    • For extra cheesiness, place the rolled burritos in a hot skillet for 1–2 minutes per side, allowing the cheese to melt and the tortilla to crisp slightly.
  6. Serve:
    • Cut in half and serve immediately with additional fries or toppings on the side.

Notes

  • Swap ground beef for ground turkey, chicken, or a plant-based alternative for a different flavor.
  • Add refried beans or cooked rice to make the burritos even heartier.
  • For a spicy kick, drizzle hot sauce or sprinkle crushed red pepper flakes inside the burrito.
