This Cherry Dump Cake is a super easy, 5-minute prep dessert that’s sweet, buttery, and bursting with cherry flavor! Made with just 4 simple ingredients, this no-fail recipe is perfect for potlucks, holidays, or a last-minute treat.   • 2 (21 oz) cans cherry pie filling
  • 1 box yellow cake mix (or white cake mix for a lighter flavor)
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted (or sliced into pats for even distribution)
  • ½ tsp almond extract (optional, enhances cherry flavor!)
  • ½ cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional, for crunch!)

For Serving:

  • Vanilla ice cream (highly recommended!)
  • Whipped cream
  • Powdered sugar dusting (for extra sweetness!)

Instructions

Step 1: Preheat & Prep

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.

Step 2: Assemble the Dump Cake

  1. Pour cherry pie filling into the prepared baking dish and spread evenly.
  2. (Optional) Stir in ½ tsp almond extract for extra cherry flavor.
  3. Sprinkle dry cake mix evenly over the cherries—DO NOT STIR.
  4. Drizzle melted butter evenly over the cake mix, ensuring most of it is moistened. (If using pats of butter, evenly distribute them across the top.)
  5. (Optional) Sprinkle with chopped nuts for a crunchy topping.

Step 3: Bake

  1. Bake for 40-45 minutes, until the top is golden brown and bubbly.
  2. Let cool for 5-10 minutes before serving.

Step 4: Serve & Enjoy

  1. Spoon warm cherry dump cake into bowls.
  2. Top with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for the best flavor!
