Ingredients

Scale
  • For the Dough:
    • 1 pound pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
  • For the Filling:
    • 1 cup cooked chicken, shredded or diced
    • 1/2 cup Alfredo sauce
    • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
    • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
    • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
    • 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • For Assembly:
    • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
    • 1 tablespoon olive oil (optional, for brushing)
    • Marinara sauce (for dipping, optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Air Fryer:
    • Set your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) and allow it to preheat while you prepare the calzones.
  2. Prepare the Filling:
    • In a mixing bowl, combine the cooked chicken, Alfredo sauce, mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning. Mix well and set aside.
  3. Roll Out the Dough:
    • Divide the pizza dough into 4 equal portions. Roll each portion into a circle about 6-8 inches in diameter.
  4. Assemble the Calzones:
    • Spoon the chicken Alfredo filling onto one side of each dough circle, leaving about 1/2 inch around the edges.
    • Fold the dough over the filling to create a half-moon shape. Press the edges firmly to seal, then crimp with a fork to ensure they’re closed.
  5. Add Egg Wash:
    • Brush the tops of the calzones with the beaten egg for a golden finish. For extra crispiness, you can lightly brush them with olive oil as well.
  6. Cook in the Air Fryer:
    • Place the calzones in the air fryer basket, ensuring they don’t overlap. Cook in batches if necessary.
    • Air fry at 375°F (190°C) for 10-12 minutes, or until the calzones are golden brown and crispy.
  7. Serve:
    • Let the calzones cool slightly before serving. Enjoy with marinara sauce for dipping, if desired.

Notes

  • Feel free to customize the filling with veggies like spinach, mushrooms, or sun-dried tomatoes.
  • For a lighter version, use whole-wheat pizza dough and reduced-fat cheese.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in the air fryer for 2-3 minutes.
