Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 hot dogs
  • 8 hot dog buns, split open
  • 2 cups (480 ml) chili (homemade or canned)
  • 2 cups (200 g) shredded cheddar cheese (or your favorite cheese blend)
  • 1 tablespoon butter, melted
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried parsley (optional)

For garnish (optional):

  • Diced onions
  • Pickled jalapeños
  • Mustard or ketchup

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Prepare the hot dogs and buns:
    • Place the hot dog buns in the baking dish, arranging them side by side. Place a hot dog in each bun.
  3. Add the chili:
    • Spoon the chili over the hot dogs, making sure each one is generously covered.
  4. Top with cheese:
    • Sprinkle the shredded cheese evenly over the chili.
  5. Butter the buns:
    • In a small bowl, mix the melted butter with garlic powder and parsley. Brush the tops of the hot dog buns with the mixture.
  6. Bake:
    • Cover the dish with foil and bake for 20 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and the buns are slightly golden.
  7. Serve:
    • Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes. Garnish with diced onions, jalapeños, or your favorite toppings, if desired. Serve warm.
