- 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- Optional: powdered sugar or chocolate ganache for topping
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan or bundt pan.
- In a large bowl, whisk together melted butter and sugar until smooth.
- Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder.
- Gradually fold dry ingredients into wet ingredients until just combined.
- Stir in chocolate chips.
- Pour batter into prepared pan and spread evenly.
- Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with moist crumbs.
- Let cake cool in pan for 15 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Top with powdered sugar or drizzle with chocolate ganache if desired.
Notes
- Do not overbake — a slightly underbaked center keeps it fudgy.
- Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for extra indulgence.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
