1. Preheat the oven

• Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.

2. Make the cookie dough

1. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy (2–3 minutes).
2. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then mix in the vanilla extract.
3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.

3. Divide and color the dough

1. Divide the dough into two equal portions.
2. Add a few drops of red food coloring to one portion and green food coloring to the other. Mix each portion until the colors are fully incorporated.

4. Chill the dough

• Cover the dough portions with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes. This helps firm up the dough for easier handling.

5. Shape and coat the cookies

1. Scoop out tablespoon-sized portions of dough and roll them into balls.
2. Roll each ball in powdered sugar until fully coated.
3. Place the coated dough balls on the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.

6. Bake

• Bake in the preheated oven for 10–12 minutes, or until the cookies are puffed and the powdered sugar has formed crinkles. Avoid overbaking for a soft, chewy texture.

7. Cool and serve

1. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
2. Serve as part of a holiday cookie tray or package them for gifting.
