These Christmas Ooey Gooey Butter Cookies are soft, chewy, and bursting with holiday charm. Made with cream cheese and a cake mix base, they’re incredibly easy to make and perfect for holiday gatherings or gift-giving.

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 (8 oz) package cream cheese, softened
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 box white or yellow cake mix
  • 1/4 cup holiday sprinkles (plus extra for rolling)
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar (for coating)

Instructions

  • Prepare the Dough:

    • In a large mixing bowl, beat together the softened butter and cream cheese until smooth and fluffy.
    • Add the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until just combined. Gradually add the cake mix, blending well.
    • Fold in 1/4 cup of holiday sprinkles. Cover the bowl and refrigerate the dough for at least 1 hour, or overnight for best results​
  • Preheat the Oven:

    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper or lightly grease them.
  • Shape and Roll the Cookies:

    • Using a tablespoon or cookie scoop, form 1-inch balls of dough. Roll each ball in additional sprinkles, then in powdered sugar to coat fully​

    • Place the dough balls on the prepared baking sheets about 2 inches apart. Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are set but the centers remain soft and gooey.
