Ingredients

Scale

  • 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder (optional, for a smoky kick)
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • Juice of 2 limes (~¼ cup)
  • ½ teaspoon lime zest
  • ¼ cup fresh cilantro, chopped
  • ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for spice)

Instructions

  • Prepare the Shrimp:

    • Pat shrimp dry with paper towels.
    • In a bowl, toss shrimp with olive oil, garlic, chili powder, salt, and black pepper.
  • Sauté the Shrimp:

    • Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat.
    • Add shrimp and cook for 2 minutes per side until pink and opaque.
    • Remove from the pan and set aside.
  • Make the Lime Butter Sauce:

    • Reduce heat to low, then add butter, lime juice, and zest to the skillet.
    • Stir for 30 seconds, scraping up any browned bits from the pan.
  • Finish & Serve:

    • Return shrimp to the skillet, tossing to coat in the sauce.
    • Remove from heat and stir in chopped cilantro and red pepper flakes (if using).

  • Enjoy!

    • Serve immediately over rice, pasta, tacos, or salad.

Notes

  • Want a smoky twist? Add ½ teaspoon smoked paprika.
  • Make it creamy by stirring in 2 tablespoons of heavy cream at the end.
  • Great for meal prep! Store in the fridge for 3 days and reheat gently.
