Ingredients

Scale

For the Dough:

  • 1 cup warm milk (110°F)
  • 2 ¼ tsp (1 packet) active dry yeast
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg + 1 egg yolk
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 3 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ tsp salt

For the Cinnamon Filling:

  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • ¾ cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp ground cinnamon

For the Cream Cheese Frosting:

  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp milk (if needed for consistency)

Instructions

Make the Dough:

  1. Activate the yeast: In a bowl, combine warm milk, yeast, and sugar. Let sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Mix wet ingredients: Add the egg, egg yolk, and melted butter. Stir to combine.
  3. Add dry ingredients: Mix in flour and salt until a dough forms. Knead for 8-10 minutes, until smooth.
  4. First rise: Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.

Prepare the Filling:

  1. In a small bowl, mix butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon until combined.

Assemble the Rolls:

  1. Roll out the dough: On a floured surface, roll dough into a 14×9-inch rectangle.
  2. Spread the filling: Evenly spread the cinnamon mixture over the dough.
  3. Roll & cut: Roll dough tightly from the long side. Cut into 12 even rolls.
  4. Second rise: Place rolls in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish. Cover and let rise for 30-45 minutes.

Bake & Frost:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Bake: Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
  3. Make the frosting: Beat cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla until smooth. Spread over warm rolls.
