This Classic Caprese Salad is a fresh and simple Italian dish made with ripe tomatoes, creamy mozzarella, fresh basil, and a drizzle of olive oil and balsamic glaze — perfect as a starter or side.

Ingredients

  • 4 medium ripe tomatoes, sliced
  • 8 oz (225g) fresh mozzarella cheese, sliced
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves
  • 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic glaze (optional)
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Arrange tomato and mozzarella slices on a platter, alternating and overlapping them.
  2. Tuck fresh basil leaves between the slices.
  3. Drizzle with olive oil and balsamic glaze if using.
  4. Season generously with salt and freshly ground black pepper.
  5. Serve immediately at room temperature.
