Cowboy Mushrooms are a hearty, savory side dish made with sautéed mushrooms, garlic, butter, and bold seasonings — perfect for pairing with grilled meats or enjoying on their own.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb cremini or button mushrooms, cleaned and halved
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley (optional)

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil and butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat until melted and bubbling.
  2. Add mushrooms and cook, stirring occasionally, until they begin to brown and release their moisture, about 8-10 minutes.
  3. Stir in garlic, smoked paprika, chili powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Cook for another 2-3 minutes.
  4. Add Worcestershire sauce and stir to coat the mushrooms evenly. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until sauce thickens slightly.
  5. Remove from heat and garnish with chopped parsley if desired. Serve hot.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add a splash of bourbon while cooking.
  • Great as a topping for steak, burgers, or baked potatoes.
  • Can be made ahead and reheated before serving.
