Creamy Cajun Pasta is a bold and flavorful dish made with tender pasta, a rich Cajun-spiced cream sauce, and your choice of protein, making it a comforting and satisfying meal with a kick.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz pasta (penne or fettuccine)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 lb chicken breast or shrimp (optional), sliced
  • 1 tbsp Cajun seasoning
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 bell pepper, sliced
  • 1/2 small onion, sliced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Chopped parsley (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Cook pasta according to package instructions. Reserve 1/4 cup of pasta water and drain.
  2. In a bowl, toss chicken or shrimp with Cajun seasoning.
  3. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the seasoned chicken or shrimp and cook until browned and cooked through. Remove and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, melt butter and sauté garlic, bell pepper, and onion until soft, about 4-5 minutes.
  5. Reduce heat to medium. Stir in heavy cream and Parmesan cheese. Simmer until the sauce thickens, 3-4 minutes. Add salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Return cooked chicken or shrimp to the pan. Add drained pasta and reserved pasta water. Toss to coat evenly in the sauce.
  7. Serve hot, garnished with chopped parsley if desired.

Notes

  • Adjust the Cajun seasoning to your spice preference.
  • For a lighter version, use half-and-half instead of heavy cream.
  • Great with sausage, tofu, or just veggies as alternatives.
