Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter.
  2. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1–2 minutes until fragrant, but not browned.
  3. Whisk in the flour and cook for 1 minute to form a roux.
  4. Gradually pour in the heavy cream while whisking constantly to avoid lumps.
  5. Bring the sauce to a gentle simmer and cook for 3–5 minutes until slightly thickened.
  6. Stir in the Parmesan cheese and season with salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Remove from heat and sprinkle with parsley if desired. Serve warm.

Notes

  • Use freshly grated Parmesan for the best flavor and texture.
  • Add a splash of white wine for extra depth.
  • Thin with a little milk or broth if the sauce becomes too thick.
