This creamy pasta recipe features tender pasta coated in a rich, velvety sauce made with garlic, Parmesan, and heavy cream. It’s a quick and easy dish perfect for a comforting weeknight dinner or an elegant meal for guests.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 ounces pasta (fettuccine, penne, or your favorite type)
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 cup baby spinach (optional)
  • ½ cup cherry tomatoes, halved (optional)
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Cook the Pasta:

    • Cook pasta in a large pot of salted boiling water according to package instructions until al dente.
    • Reserve ½ cup of pasta water, then drain the pasta and set aside.
  2. Make the Creamy Sauce:

    • In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat.
    • Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant (about 1 minute).
    • Pour in the heavy cream and stir continuously until it begins to simmer.
    • Reduce heat to low and add Parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes.
    • Stir until the cheese melts and the sauce thickens slightly.
  3. Combine with Pasta:

    • Add the cooked pasta to the skillet. Toss to coat evenly with the sauce.
    • If the sauce is too thick, add a splash of the reserved pasta water to achieve the desired consistency.
  4. Optional Add-Ins:

    • Stir in baby spinach and cherry tomatoes until the spinach wilts slightly.
  5. Serve:

    • Garnish with fresh parsley and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Protein Additions: Add grilled chicken, shrimp, or crispy bacon for a more filling meal.
  • Vegetarian Tip: Use vegetable broth instead of pasta water for extra flavor.

  • Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Reheat gently on the stove, adding a splash of cream or milk to keep it creamy.
