Creamy Swiss Chicken Bake is a comforting, flavorful dish featuring tender chicken breasts smothered in a rich, creamy sauce and topped with melted Swiss cheese. It’s a perfect weeknight dinner that pairs beautifully with rice, pasta, or a simple side salad.

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 4 slices Swiss cheese
  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese, divided
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (optional)
  • 1 cup seasoned bread crumbs (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted (optional, for bread crumbs)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven:

    • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Prepare the Chicken:

    • Pat chicken breasts dry with paper towels. Season both sides with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning. Place them in the prepared baking dish in a single layer.
  3. Add the Swiss Cheese:

    • Lay a slice of Swiss cheese over each chicken breast.
  4. Make the Creamy Sauce:

    • In a medium bowl, combine mayonnaise, sour cream, ¼ cup of Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix until smooth.
  5. Assemble the Bake:

    • Spread the creamy mixture evenly over the chicken and cheese.
    • Sprinkle the remaining ¼ cup of Parmesan cheese on top.
    • (Optional) Add shredded mozzarella for extra cheesiness.
  6. Top with Bread Crumbs (Optional):

    • If using, mix the bread crumbs with the melted butter. Sprinkle evenly over the chicken for a crunchy topping.
  7. Bake:

    • Bake uncovered for 45-50 minutes, or until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) and the top is golden and bubbly.
  8. Serve:

    • Let the dish rest for a few minutes before serving. It pairs well with rice, pasta, or steamed vegetables.
