Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (or thighs)
  • 1 packet (1 oz/28 g) ranch seasoning mix
  • 1 block (8 oz/225 g) cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) chicken broth
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) sour cream (optional, for extra creaminess)
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 6 sandwich buns or rolls

Optional Toppings:

  • Crispy bacon slices
  • Sliced pickles
  • Shredded lettuce
  • Sliced tomatoes
  • Cheese slices (cheddar, provolone, or Swiss)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Chicken:
    • Place the chicken breasts in the bottom of your slow cooker. Sprinkle the ranch seasoning mix, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper over the chicken.
  2. Add the Creamy Ingredients:
    • Add the cream cheese and chicken broth to the slow cooker. Spread the cream cheese over the chicken for even cooking.
  3. Cook the Chicken:
    • Cover and cook on low for 6-7 hours or on high for 3-4 hours, until the chicken is tender and easily shredded with a fork.
  4. Shred the Chicken:
    • Remove the chicken breasts and shred them using two forks. Return the shredded chicken to the slow cooker and stir to combine with the creamy ranch mixture. If desired, stir in the sour cream for added creaminess.
  5. Assemble the Sandwiches:
    • Spoon the creamy ranch chicken onto the sandwich buns. Add your favorite toppings like crispy bacon, pickles, lettuce, tomatoes, or cheese.
  6. Serve and Enjoy:
    • Serve warm with chips, fries, or a fresh salad on the side.

Notes

  • Make Ahead: The chicken mixture can be made a day in advance and reheated in the slow cooker or microwave.
  • Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat gently before serving.
  • Variations: Swap out the ranch seasoning for Italian dressing mix for a slightly different flavor profile.
