These crunchy taco cups are a fun and delicious twist on classic tacos. Made with crispy wonton wrappers, seasoned beef, and your favorite taco toppings, they’re perfect as an appetizer, party snack, or quick dinner!

Ingredients

Scale

For the taco filling:

  • 1 lb (450 g) ground beef or turkey
  • 1 packet taco seasoning mix (or 1 tablespoon homemade taco seasoning)
  • 1/3 cup (80 ml) water

For the cups:

  • 24 wonton wrappers
  • 1 cup (100 g) shredded cheddar or Mexican-blend cheese

Optional toppings:

  • Diced tomatoes
  • Shredded lettuce
  • Sour cream
  • Guacamole or diced avocado
  • Sliced black olives
  • Chopped cilantro

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 12-cup muffin tin.
  2. Cook the taco filling:
    • Heat a skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned and crumbled. Drain any excess fat.
    • Stir in the taco seasoning and water. Simmer for 3–5 minutes until the mixture thickens. Remove from heat.
  3. Assemble the taco cups:
    • Place one wonton wrapper into each muffin cup, pressing it gently to form a base.
    • Add a spoonful of taco meat into each cup and sprinkle a little cheese on top.
    • Place a second wonton wrapper over the cheese, pressing it down slightly to create a second layer. Repeat with another spoonful of taco meat and top with more cheese.
  4. Bake:
    • Bake in the preheated oven for 10–12 minutes, or until the wonton wrappers are golden and crispy and the cheese is melted.
  5. Add toppings:
    • Remove the taco cups from the muffin tin and let them cool slightly. Add your favorite toppings, such as diced tomatoes, shredded lettuce, sour cream, or guacamole.
  6. Serve:
    • Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

  • Substitute ground beef with shredded chicken, pork, or beans for variety.
  • For a spicier version, add diced jalapeños to the taco filling or use pepper jack cheese.
  • These taco cups can be made ahead and reheated in the oven for 5–7 minutes.
