Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup crushed pretzels
  • 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup candy-coated chocolates (e.g., M&Ms or Valentine’s candy)
  • 1/4 cup sprinkles (preferably pink, red, and white for Valentine’s Day)
  • 1/4 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions

1. Preheat and Prepare:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone baking mats.

2. Make the Dough:

  1. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  2. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, then add the vanilla extract.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined.

3. Add the “Trash”:

  1. Gently fold in the crushed pretzels, mini chocolate chips, candy-coated chocolates, sprinkles, and nuts (if using).

4. Scoop and Bake:

  1. Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  2. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the centers look slightly soft.

5. Cool and Serve:

  1. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  2. Serve with a glass of milk or pack them up for a Valentine’s gift!

Notes

  • Customize the “trash” with your favorite mix-ins like crushed potato chips, white chocolate chips, or dried fruit.
  • Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
