Dollywood’s Famous Cinnamon Bread is a soft, pull-apart treat coated in a buttery cinnamon-sugar mixture and finished with a sweet glaze, just like the beloved theme park favorite.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 loaf frozen bread dough, thawed
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • For the glaze:
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
  2. In a small bowl, mix the sugar and cinnamon together.
  3. On a lightly floured surface, roll or stretch the thawed dough into a rectangle (about 16×8 inches).
  4. Using a sharp knife, make deep cuts about 1 inch apart across the top of the dough, being careful not to cut all the way through.
  5. Brush the dough generously with melted butter, then sprinkle with the cinnamon-sugar mixture, pressing it gently into the cuts and surface.
  6. Fold or roll the dough slightly to fit into the loaf pan and place it inside, cut-side up.
  7. Let the dough rest for 15-20 minutes, then bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through.
  8. Meanwhile, mix powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla to make the glaze.
  9. Remove the bread from the oven, cool for 10 minutes, and drizzle with glaze before serving.

Notes

  • You can make this recipe with homemade bread dough as well.
  • Best served warm, fresh from the oven.
  • For a nutty twist, sprinkle chopped pecans or walnuts between the slices before baking.
