Dried orange slices are a versatile and beautiful treat that can be used for holiday decorations, garnishes for drinks, or as a naturally sweet snack. They’re easy to make at home and bring a delightful citrus aroma to your kitchen.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3–4 medium oranges (navel, Valencia, or blood oranges work well)

Instructions

  • Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 200°F (90°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
  • Slice Oranges: Wash the oranges thoroughly and slice them into thin rounds, about â…›-inch thick. Aim for uniform thickness to ensure even drying.
  • Arrange Slices: Lay the orange slices in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. Ensure they don’t overlap.
  • Dry the Slices: Place the baking sheet in the oven. Dry the orange slices for 3–4 hours, flipping them every hour. They’re done when they’re dry to the touch but still slightly pliable.
  • Cool and Store: Let the dried orange slices cool completely. Store them in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks.

Notes

  • For a sweeter touch, sprinkle the orange slices with a bit of granulated sugar before drying.
  • Use a dehydrator if you have one, setting it to 135°F (57°C) and drying for 6–8 hours.
  • Perfect for holiday crafts, wreaths, potpourri, or cocktail garnishes!
