Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 hot dogs
  • 8 hot dog buns (split, optional)
  • 2 cups (500ml) chili (homemade or canned)
  • 1 1/2 cups (150g) shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup (30g) diced onion (optional)
  • 1/4 cup (30g) sliced jalapeños (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

1. Preheat the Oven:
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13-inch (23x33cm) baking dish.
2. Assemble the Casserole:
  1. Place the hot dog buns in the prepared dish (open side up). If not using buns, arrange the hot dogs directly in the dish.
  2. Place a hot dog in each bun or row in the dish.
3. Add the Chili:
  1. Spoon the chili evenly over the hot dogs, ensuring they are well covered.
4. Add Cheese and Toppings:
  1. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the chili.
  2. Add diced onion if desired.
5. Bake:
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 20–25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
6. Serve:
  • Garnish with sliced jalapeños, additional onions, or your favorite toppings. Serve hot with a side of fries, salad, or veggies.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, toast the buns lightly before assembling the casserole.
  • Add a layer of crushed tortilla chips on top of the cheese for added crunch.
  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated in the oven or microwave.
