Golden and crispy French fries made in the air fryer for a healthier, quick, and delicious snack or side dish.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 medium russet potatoes, peeled or unpeeled, cut into 1/4-inch sticks
  • 12 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt (plus more to taste)
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Optional: 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder, paprika, or dried herbs

Instructions

  1. Soak the cut potatoes in cold water for at least 15-30 minutes, then drain and dry thoroughly with a towel.
  2. Preheat the air fryer to 380°F (193°C).
  3. Toss the potatoes with olive oil, salt, pepper, and optional seasonings in a large bowl until evenly coated.
  4. Place the fries in a single layer in the air fryer basket (cook in batches if needed).
  5. Air fry for 15-20 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through, until fries are golden and crisp.
  6. Remove and season with extra salt if desired. Serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauces.

Notes

  • Soaking the potatoes helps remove excess starch and increases crispiness.
  • Don’t overcrowd the basket—cook in batches for best results.
  • Use sweet potatoes for a variation, adjusting cook time slightly.
  • Reheat leftovers in the air fryer for a few minutes to restore crispiness.
  • Customize seasonings to taste for different flavor profiles.
