These Easy Football Cupcakes are the perfect game-day treat! Moist chocolate cupcakes are topped with rich chocolate frosting and decorated with white icing to resemble footballs.   • 1 cup all-purpose flour

  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • ¾ cup buttermilk

Chocolate Frosting:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ¼ cup heavy cream (or milk)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Football Decorations:

  • ½ cup white icing or royal icing
  • 1 piping bag or resealable bag with a small tip cut off


Instructions

Make the Cupcakes:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a cupcake pan with 12 liners.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, granulated sugar, brown sugar, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Add vegetable oil, eggs, buttermilk, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth.
  4. Divide the batter evenly among the cupcake liners, filling each about ¾ full.
  5. Bake for 18–20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  6. Let the cupcakes cool completely before frosting.

Make the Frosting:

  1. In a mixing bowl, beat the softened butter until creamy.
  2. Add powdered sugar, cocoa powder, heavy cream, vanilla extract, and salt. Beat until smooth and fluffy.
  3. Transfer the frosting to a piping bag and frost each cupcake.

Decorate the Football Cupcakes:

  1. Use the piping bag filled with white icing to draw football laces on top of each cupcake.
  2. Let the icing set for a few minutes before serving.
