Tender and flavorful Italian meatballs made with simple ingredients, perfect for serving with pasta, in subs, or as appetizers.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 pound ground pork
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
  • 2 cups marinara sauce (for simmering)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, garlic, parsley, egg, milk, salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning.
  2. Mix gently until just combined; do not overwork the meat.
  3. Form the mixture into 1 1/2-inch balls and place on a plate or baking sheet.
  4. Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add a little oil.
  5. Brown the meatballs on all sides, about 5-7 minutes total.
  6. Transfer the browned meatballs into a pot with marinara sauce.
  7. Simmer gently for 20-25 minutes until meatballs are cooked through.
  8. Serve hot over pasta, in subs, or as appetizers.

Notes

  • For lighter meatballs, you can bake them at 400°F (200°C) for 15-20 minutes instead of pan-frying.
  • Ground turkey or chicken can be substituted for a leaner option.
  • Meatballs can be frozen after browning for later use.
