A simple and delicious Japanese dessert made with coffee-flavored gelatin, often served with cream or condensed milk.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups brewed black coffee (hot)
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 teaspoons unflavored gelatin powder
  • 2 tablespoons water (for blooming gelatin)
  • Whipped cream or sweetened condensed milk (for serving)

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, combine gelatin powder and 2 tablespoons of water. Let it bloom for about 5 minutes.
  2. Meanwhile, brew 2 cups of hot black coffee and stir in the sugar until dissolved.
  3. Add the bloomed gelatin into the hot coffee and stir well until the gelatin is fully dissolved.
  4. Pour the mixture into serving cups or a shallow dish.
  5. Refrigerate for at least 2-3 hours, or until fully set.
  6. Cut into cubes if using a dish, or serve as is in cups.
  7. Top with whipped cream or drizzle with sweetened condensed milk before serving.

Notes

  • Adjust the sweetness by adding more or less sugar according to taste.
  • For a stronger coffee flavor, use espresso instead of regular brewed coffee.
  • Vegetarian-friendly if using plant-based gelatin alternatives.
