Ingredients
Scale
12 lasagna noodles
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 pound ground beef
1 small onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 (24-ounce) jar marinara sauce
1 (15-ounce) container ricotta cheese
1 large egg
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 teaspoon dried basil
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
Cook lasagna noodles according to package instructions; drain and set aside.
In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add ground beef, onion, and garlic; cook until meat is browned and onion is tender. Drain excess fat.
Add marinara sauce to the meat mixture and simmer for 5 minutes.
In a bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, basil, salt, and pepper.
Spread a thin layer of meat sauce in the bottom of a 9×13-inch baking dish. Layer 3 noodles, 1/3 of the ricotta mixture, 1/3 of the meat sauce, and 1/3 of the mozzarella. Repeat layers two more times.
Top with Parmesan cheese.
Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake an additional 20 minutes or until cheese is bubbly and golden.
Let stand for 10 minutes before serving.
Notes
Substitute ground beef with ground turkey or Italian sausage for variation.
Use no-boil noodles to save time.
Can be made ahead and refrigerated or frozen before baking.
Let lasagna rest before cutting for cleaner slices.
