This Easy Slow Cooker Orange Chicken is tender, flavorful, and coated in a tangy, sweet orange sauce. Perfect for busy weeknights, this dish pairs beautifully with rice and steamed vegetables for a wholesome, comforting meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1/3 cup cornstarch
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 cup orange marmalade
  • 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • Optional garnish: sliced green onions, sesame seeds

Instructions

  • Prepare the chicken: Toss the chicken pieces in cornstarch, salt, and black pepper until evenly coated.
  • Sear the chicken: Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the chicken for 2–3 minutes on each side until lightly browned. (This step adds flavor but is optional.)
  • Combine sauce ingredients: In a small bowl, whisk together orange marmalade, soy sauce, rice vinegar, and sesame oil.
  • Slow cook: Transfer the chicken to a slow cooker and pour the sauce over the top. Stir to coat the chicken evenly.
  • Cook: Cover and cook on low for 4–5 hours or high for 2–3 hours until the chicken is tender and fully cooked.
  • Serve: Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds if desired. Serve over rice or noodles with a side of vegetables.

Notes

  • For a spicier version, add 1–2 teaspoons of sriracha or chili flakes to the sauce.
  • Frozen chicken can be used but may require slightly longer cooking time.
