Ensalada Navideña is a traditional Mexican Christmas fruit salad made with a mix of fresh and canned fruits, combined with cream, sweetened condensed milk, and sometimes nuts or marshmallows. It’s creamy, sweet, and festive—perfect for holiday gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 apples, diced
  • 1 cup pineapple chunks (fresh or canned, drained)
  • 1 cup canned peaches, chopped
  • 1 cup seedless grapes, halved
  • 1/2 cup pomegranate seeds (optional)
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans
  • 1 cup mini marshmallows
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • Juice of 1 lime (to prevent apples from browning)

Instructions

  1. Dice apples and toss with lime juice in a large bowl.
  2. Add pineapple, peaches, grapes, pomegranate seeds (if using), chopped nuts, and marshmallows to the bowl with the apples.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix sour cream, sweetened condensed milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. Pour the cream mixture over the fruit and gently stir to combine.
  5. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving to allow flavors to meld.

Notes

  • Adjust the sweetness by adding more or less condensed milk.
  • You can add bananas just before serving to keep them from browning.
  • For a lighter version, use Greek yogurt in place of sour cream.
