Ingredients
Scale
1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
1/2 cup cornstarch
2 eggs, beaten
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/3 cup Fireball Cinnamon Whisky
1/2 cup ketchup
1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
2 tbsp soy sauce
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
Salt and pepper to taste
Chopped green onions and sesame seeds for garnish (optional)
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a baking dish.
Season chicken pieces with salt and pepper. Dredge in cornstarch, then dip in beaten eggs.
In a large skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium heat. Brown chicken pieces until golden on all sides, about 2-3 minutes per side. Transfer to the prepared baking dish.
In a bowl, mix brown sugar, Fireball whisky, ketchup, apple cider vinegar, soy sauce, garlic powder, and red pepper flakes.
Pour the sauce over the browned chicken in the baking dish.
Bake uncovered for 40-45 minutes, stirring halfway through to coat the chicken evenly in the sauce.
Remove from oven and let rest for 5 minutes. Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds if desired. Serve hot.
Notes
Adjust red pepper flakes based on your preferred spice level.
This dish pairs well with steamed rice or roasted vegetables.
For a non-alcoholic version, substitute Fireball with cinnamon-flavored syrup or apple juice with a dash of cinnamon.
